Eve has developed a strong love for music. We keep a keyboard on the floor and she goes back to play with it all day. It even plays some songs and music beats and she just loves to turn them on a move her body. Here is a video on her and my Mom and you can see her dancing with her.

Mom's Visit
We had the pleasure of having my mom come and spend a week with us. It was so nice to have her here, because we miss her (and the rest of the family) so very much. She was worried that Eve would not like her right away, but by day 2, Eve was more than happy to play and interact with her. Here are some pictures of her time here. Easter Pics
We had a wonderful Easter, spent with Tyler's family and my Mom. Eve loved the plastic eggs and the plastic bathtoys that she got in her basket. She mainly used both as teethers and on Monday she had her third tooth pop through.

9 Months
So, on the 12th Eve turned nice months old. She decided to celebrate the day by finally crawling. She had been rocking and taking one or two arm steps but then on Wednesday she just took off. And then after going a few feet she just pops back up to sitting. She was so happy and proud of herself. Now she is getting into everything and loving it. Today she found the airvent and just sat there giggling evertime she would lean over and get it to blow her hair. And she recently has really been loving her books. She has a soft one about a monkey baby taking a bath and it just makes her laugh.
Eve has also taken to eating lots of new foods, which she loves to feed to herself. Her favorite thing to eat is by far cheese. She gets excited when we take it out of the refridge. She also eats lots of fruits and her favortite of those is grapes. And she also loves ground beef, which makes Tyler very happy.
As you can tell, Eve is just such a happy child. She is enjoying getting outside and being in the nice weather. We also look forward to my mom coming on Wed.

This is My Town

On My Soapbox
99% of the time I use this blog to show pictures of the things going on in our lives, and yes mainly things to do with Eve. She's by far the most interesting Rider these days. But today I read an article that gave a very interesting analogy that I wanted to share. It comes from today's Hutchinson News and was written by Barb Nichols, although the analogy come from an unknown author.
When we demand that legislators protect us from the devestating effects of illegal immigration, we are racists and bigots and are accused of having no empathy for those who have broken our laws. Let's see if I undertand what they are thinking about these red-hot issues.
Lets say I break into your house. And when you discover me in your house you insist that I leave. But I say "No! I like it here. It is better than my house. Besides, I have made the beds, washed the dishes, done th laundry, and swept the floors, mowed the lawn, and fixed the roof. I have done all the things that you don't want to do."
But the protestors say to you, "You are required to let me stay in your house, required to feed me, required to add me to your family's insurance plan, required to educate my kids, required to pay for my health care and provide others benefits to me and my family at no charge.
"
"If you call the police, all my friends will picket your house, carrying signs that proclaim my right to be in your home. After all, I am merely trying to better myself. I am an honest, hardworking person, except well, I did break into your home. What a deal, I can live in your house, contributing onle a fraction of the cost of my keep and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of being an uncaring racist bigot."
"Oh and byt the way, I demand that you learn my language so you can communciate with me."
"One more thing. You must go to the bank and get a loan to build onto your house as all my relatives will be arriving shortly and you are required to provide them with the same accommodations as I have."
This analogy really hit home for me, because we have a very large illegal immigrant problem here in Kansas, as we do throughout this country. As the granddaughter of Legal Immigrants I have no problem with immigration, just when people do it illegally. My grandmother lived most of her childhood while her father was far away. Why, because immigration is costly and the family could not afford to take them all. Her father worked many years in America to earn enough money for the rest of the family to legally come. My great-grandmother was a strong caring woman who took care of the family during that time, even when years would go by without them hearing from him. And when they came to America, they worked hard, long hours to provide for the family and taught themselves English. My grandmother would even do some of my Uncles' homework with them so she could learn more. They worked so hard to be citizens and to thrive in this country. It just hurts to know that lots of people want the same benefits without the struggle and reward. I'm sure my grandmother would have loved those years with her father back, but that wouldn't have been the honest right thing to do.
I know that I have some strong opinions, and could say much more, but don't want to spend all day on my soapbox, as Tyler is always quick to point out. So stepping down for a while.
