Eve has now been moved up from sleeping in her crib to a "big girl" bed. She was very excited to see us taking down her crib for the promise of a bed of her own. We have been talking to her about it for a while. We had gone out and picked out a matress set for her at the local furniture shop at a sale in Oct. and then she picked out her sheets in Nov and then got her comforter for Christmas. We did it on Sat. so that we would both be able to get up with her if there was any problems. And its not really a bed, more of a matress on the floor. We decided on that since it is low enough for her to get in and out, and if she falls, she only falls down about six inches. So far things are going really great. We had put a pillow in her crib about 2 months ago to get her used to the idea of sleeping on one side of the crib and using a pillow. She sleeps curled up on that pillow and has not fallen off her bed. She does not like the sheets and woke up some the first night because of it, but once we brought her favorite blanket from her crib, she has been a happy camper.
It is much harder for me than her. It was bittersweet to take down her crib. I remember the day me and Tyler put it up. I always thought that she might want to stay in it longer and then we would have another baby or one on the way before we would have to take it down. Hopefully God will bless up again and we will get to go through the joy of putting that crib back up. Here is a little video minutes before bedtime of Eve talking about being a big girl.

Awww! Joey was playing across the room when this video started and he ran over and smiled like a fool at Eve while he watched the video. :-)
She looks so happy in her little bed!
I'm about to move my kiddo to a big kid bed too. I like the way you went about it.
Awww, way to go Eve! We haven't switched Kathryn yet, but the time may be coming soon...the other day when I went to get her up from her nap, she was strattling the railing of her crib, one leg on either side, rocking back and forth. I keep telling her she's gonna fall and hurt herself, which seems to concern her, but I'm waiting for her to just take the plunge someday!
Aww... she is a total cutie... Loved the video... Im sooo jelaous of all that hair....
Mimi is still sleeping on her crib... I already add to my list to buy a comforter for her, but I may still wait until her 2nd birthday... We'll see.
BTW, I forgot to say that my oldest slept on a mattress on the floor for several months... We also preferred her to fall 6 inches and not 20 inches!! LOL
So cute! We just (like two days ago) took down Alyssa's crib and gave her the todller bed. It is bittersweet, isn't it?!? BTW, is there a way that you can tell me how you upload a video through blogger? I cannot figure it out and I see that you did. YOu can post it on a comment section on my blog, if you want. Thanks!
BTW, I am a fellow June 07 mom from BBC. You can add me to your fave blog link list, if you want. Is it ok if I do the same?!?
